PS3 Bundled with Killzone and Metal Gear Solid

July 30th, 2009

Best Buy is having a huge sale going on right now where you can purchase an 80GB PS3 console which comes bundled with both Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 for only $399.99, which is normally the stand-alone price of the console.

Both Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 each retail for $59.99, so you are basically getting a PlayStation 3 for $280, which is near the same price as the Nintendo Wii.

Sony is in a lot of trouble right now financially, as they posted losses of about 400 million dollars for the quarter, while Nintendo posted a whopping 400 million dollar gain. It is inevitable that a price cut will be coming soon, as Sony is not fooling anyone by releasing new SKUs with bigger hard-drives to try and compensate for their losses. The only move they have left is to cut the price, which I expect to happen during the holiday season to boost sales.

This is a double-edged sword for Sony, as the sales will boost, but they will be losing more money on each console that they sell. From king to peasant, Sony has made a lot of wrong decisions this generation, and that is why we are seeing games like Wii Fit sell more than the PS3, and Wii Fit is just a game. When was the last time you heard of a game outselling a console? Never.

I’m not against the PS3 in any way; I own one, and I think it’s great, but I cannot deny that Sony has screwed up this time around, and Nintendo has re-claimed their title as the leading hardware manufacturer in the world.

Final Fantasy 7

March 3rd, 2009

Yesterday I found one of my old games, Final Fantasy 7, and I decided to play it. I had never gotten very far when I was little, but after playing for just four hours the other day I can easily see myself beating it in the coming weeks/months. When I was younger I had never realized how inappropriate this game can get at times, like, for example, the Sector 7 Slums (cough).

Anyways, I am almost out of Midgar and onto the world map, and quickly becoming addicted to this game. It passes time quickly, and that’s exactly what I need being that Spring Break is only a few days away and time is going really slow for me in general.

Has anyone else played this masterpiece? Final Fantasy 8 was always my favorite. It had a really nice storyline and it was my first PlayStation game. I remember I got my original PlayStation without a memory card, so I would play the beginning of the game over and over.

The more you know.
