According to popular gaming website VGChartz, sales of the Nintendo Wii increased by 44% for the week ending August 1, 2009, selling more than both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 combined (which is not unusual at all).

Nintendo Wii: 343,467 (+44%)
Xbox 360: 109,109 (0%)
PlayStation 3: 84,137 (-4%)

Saying that the Wii outsold it’s competitors combined is true, but doesn’t give the most accurate depiction, as it almost sold more than both of them combined two-fold.

Much credit goes to Capcom’s Monster Hunter Tri, which boosted the sales of the Wii in Japan by over 300%, and sold over a half million in just a couple days of shelf-life.

How much longer can the Wii hold up against it’s HD competitors? It’s clear that the Wii is going to be first place this generation, but it can only go so far before Nintendo is forced to take action. There haven’t been many big titles released in 2009 yet from Nintendo, but the holiday line-up is looking nicer and nicer. Wii Fit Plus is going to be absolutely HUGE, and there is no denying that. In fact, Wii Fit has sold over 21 million units, almost as much as the PlayStation 3, and comparing a game to a system always seems unfair, but on a weekly basis, this “game” continues to outsell the PS3 every single week. Nintendo has made statements saying that the balance board is almost like another game platform altogether, as there have been dozens of games that use it, and it has a userbase of 21 million.

August is always Madden-month, and the Wii has never been the platform-of-choice for Madden players. With rumored price cuts for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, August could be a turning point, but that’s a long shot. Even if Nintendo sales plummet, it is almost impossible for the Wii to lose this generation, as stated before. The Wii has already gained too much ground on it’s competitors, and has went almost three years without a price cut. Even at launch, the Wii was turning a profit on each console sold, while Sony sold it’s PS3’s for more than $200 less than what it was worth.

Price cut for Nintendo? It is bound to happen eventually. The Gamecube was selling for only $99.99 not even halfway through it’s lifespan, and yet Nintendo still turned profits. The Wii is not much more expensive to manufacture, and Nintendo could probably drop the price to $149.99 without touching red. It would be interesting to see what would happen in the event that Nintendo did take such actions. The competitors would be forced to follow suit with some major price cuts, as the Wii would be sold out everywhere just like it was for over a year after it’s launch.

Nintendo is in a great position right now, being the world’s largest hardware manufacturer. They have a lot of options, and being that they have always been a conservative company, I do not see them lowering the price of the Wii until they think they absolutely have to.

While trying to explore all of Eastern Kingdoms today, I got pwned by a terrain glitch in World of Warcraft.

As you can see from the picture above, I was stuck in a hole that I could not jump out of. I had to wait for a GM to help me out of there. I waited there for about two hours. I don’t have much else to say about this, but I felt that this needed to be seen on the blog.

While waiting for a GM, NFreak and I watched “Land of the Lost” with Will Ferrell. He was there. Seriously, I know him. We are best buds. The movie was hilarious, and everyone out there should watch it sometime.

Loddeykins Life Movies, World of Warcraft

I was taking a look at my backlinks, which are basically just other websites that have linked to mine, and I found that NFreak.net has climbed to the heights of around 1500. That’s a good thing, but what isn’t good is that a very large quantity of them are being linked from pages filled with dozens of obscene photos.

Perhaps someone owned NFreak.net before me and used it to show porn? Nope, I am the only person in the history of Earth to own NFreak.net.

If you want the same evidence I have, then you can go to www.backlinkwatch.com and search for www.nfreak.net. You will get to watch as a list of incoming links get compiled, and I would have to assume that the large majority of them lead to porn, so basically I run the largest porn site in the world.

And just so Google can wrongly identify me some more, I will keep throwing the word “porn” into sentences everywhere into this blog post so that more people that live in Russia can perform a search that directly translates to “sex with animals photos”, and somehow find my website.

I don’t see this mystery getting solved anytime soon, but if anyone has any leads, let me know. I have no desire to get put into Google’s sandbox, so any help would be appreciated.

NFreak Unsolved Mysteries Mystery

On the 19th, my fiance (yes, we’re engaged now ;)) and I get to move into our new apartment, which is going to be a pain, as we have a lot of stuff that needs to be relocated, and we just got done moving out of a different apartment a couple weeks ago, so the madness never seems to end.

Once we are all settled in, there is a gap of a week before the semester begins, and that gives me some time to get my shit together. I’m going to have a heavy work week and some pretty tough classes, so I may not have a lot of free time to get things done with the website. I am also going to be trying to make a 3D game to add to my portfolio; while I do specialize in web programming, there is only so far that I can go with that when trying to land a job as a game designer, and next summer I will get another chance to acquire an internship for High Voltage Software.

And I have to have time to party, too. I will be 21 in a couple of months, and college isn’t supposed to be stressful, so I will be sure to milk that motherfucker for what it’s worth (18,000 a year).

Do I normally curse in my blog posts? I don’t think so, but the end of summer is the perfect time to break that barrier.

NFreak Life College, Programming

So this past weekend I went to this camping site known as Camp Zoe, located in Salem, Missouri. It was about 450 miles from my home, and it was quite the trip (in more ways than one), and would be the reason for my short-term absence from this blog.

I had never imagined a place in this country where one could freely ask others for MDMA (Molly), Ecstasy, Mushrooms, Acid, or anything else you want, without having to worry about the police getting involved. It must be some loophole in the law that made this weekend possible, as I would have to say it was the greatest weekend of my life.

Everyone was extremely friendly, yelling out “Happy Schwag” to everyone around, and no one was judged for being “too messed up”. I went with my girlfriend, one of my co-workers (now a great friend of mine), his girlfriend, and her friend. The five of us all shared the same tent, but we were rarely there enough to make use of it, except to sleep, of course.

I’m not going to get into the variety of new things that I experienced. Maybe I’ll save that for another blog post, but I don’t know if it would be appropriate to share my experiences with X to the world… just yet. I’ll just say it is perfect.
